I know this will probably only be of interest to doggy people but a couple of weeks ago we spent the day with some "like minded" Wolfhound friends on Ham Hill in Somerset, we had a lovely walk and then had lunch in the local pub beer garden, what a lovely day it was!

15 Irish Wolfhounds running and playing together was magnificent to say the least.

Here are just a few Pics of the day. http://s106.photobuck...15th%20August%202011/

I think that JR's are the devils spawn - but LL your little lady is gorgeous - it looks like a bit of border terrier in her pedigree.
Your Pikeus Dogus is absolutely gorgeous, Lottie! Wonderful breed! :o)
One of the funniest things on the day were the looks on people's faces when they saw 15 Irish Wolfhounds coming around the corner at them! Lovely to see that nobody was afraid of them and everyone was warmly greeted! Although most of the wolfies had never met before, there was no nervousness or aggression to be seen. All were beautifully behaved, even the humans!
The looks on people's faces when we arrived at the pub was priceless though, lol!

Sorry Wolf63. Our Wolfhounds were originally bred to hunt and kill wolves many many years ago, they were very different Hounds to those we see today though.
ratter - it looks like your Wofies were good at hunting wolves. ;-(
I find myself wondering just how do you transport such big dogs?...and not just 1,but 3!
Once a year we have working Newfoundlands that come to our local beach to give a display. Huge great fluffy bears!!! to see a large amount of them together is just great.

Thanks Carakeel for your kind words about Pikeus Dogus (That is what my son calls her!!) We think she is special!!!

Wolf63. Im pleased to be able to say that the Wolfhound had little to do with the demise of the Wolf actually, that was more to do with man and gun, trapping. Wolfhounds have not been used to hunt wolves for many many years and more for protection of the sheep herds up in the hills than sport.
"I think that JR's are the devils spawn " hey hey hey! :-(
Great pictures Ratter, thanks for sharing!
great photos ratter!

oh what fabulous dogs!

and lovely pics of your good lady too, you look a very very happy couple :o)

thanks for sharing them with us!
Oh Lottie, what a wonderful sight a large group of Newfies must be!!! Beautiful dogs they are!!
someone at work has a JR that he's dubbed 'asbo hound' !
What a handsome bunch and Loftie's "pikeus dogus" is also a star.
Wolf63

Pikeus Dogus's Dad was a Jack Russell and Mum was an Irish Terrier (ginger), although Mum was small for an Irish Terrier. Pikeus has a bit of an Irish Terrier beard - a straggly one.

I love J.R's. Spirited and very intelligent little dogs!!
that must of been a hell of site. where is ham hill, i'm sure i've been there
nope i was thinking of ham green in bristol. but it looks lovely though
Lovely photos. Brought back happy memories. When we moved abroad 8 years ago, we brought our three wolfhounds and an Airedale with us. All sadly passed away now. We have a local rescue dog but not the same as the big loyal gently giants

pastafreak, >>>I find myself wondering just how do you transport such big dogs?...and not just 1,but 3!<<<

We have a Citreon Berlingo http://www.google.co....&ved=1t:429,r:15,s:73 All 3 can get in and justabout lie down. We may need a bigger car next year, it may need to be big enough for four wolfies. :-)
mum's JR only dislikes squeeky toys & anything tinny that gets dropped, otherwise he is king,even@ 14,so cute though!!!!!!!
