My wife has left me after 18 months of marriage. I have loans and debts in my own name. Will my wife be responsible for any of the debts or will they be deductable from the proceeds from the sale of the house

Well it all depends on how much equity you have in the house, what she brought to the marriage, whether you are getting a divorce etc.etc. Will she agree to the house being sold. All these aspects are something you need to sort out preferably amicably. If it all goes into the hands of solicitors then a settlement will be reached either by agreement or eventually by the Court and they will decide on the division of the marital assets, which include all the plusses and minuses on both sides .. they are the joint assets of the marriage, so your debts would be a minus on your side. If you can work it out between you it is much cheaper as the solicitors cost as much as the debts probably !! See a solicitor for a free consultation or go to the CAB.
