My mum gave me a brand new 3 seater leather sofa. My partner wanted a recliner to match, but they didn't do it in the same range as the 3 seater.

Anyway, I bought one today, it's brown leather like the 3 seater, but different design. I think it looks ok that they don't match. WhT do you think?

Do u think sofas should match chairs or can it work without?

it probably looks fine lyla, and no they dont have to match,
when you see house makeovers on tv, they often bring in different pieces of furniture dont they,
so yeah, id say it looks fine :o)

post a pic up, so we can have a look and give our opinion! :o)
I prefer items that contrast as opposed to matching. I've never actually owned a conventional three piece suite and nobody's ever been rude enough to criticise my own choice. Go for it!

How do I post a pic. I dont like matching either tbh, I like to be a bit different :-)
i do prefer matching, myself.. but thats just me!
I usually like matching sofas but my brother has just bought a chesterfield(?) for his new house and his girlfriend bought two, completely different, lovely seats in the same colour to fill up the room and I really think it looks good :)

I suppose it's down to personal opinions really. So long as I've not just made a total arse of my living room, I dont mind lol
go into tinypic, lyla .... upload your piccy to it, and then post us the link on here
no reason why they have to match lyla!.......variety it good!.........enjoy your new sofa!...........
Do you mean they're not the same colour? A way round that is to get cushions in both shades and put them on opposing coloured chairs (blue cushion on brown chair/brown cushion on blue chair kind of thing). If they're the same colour but different styles then it doesn't matter - remember Frasier's apartment? :)
Yep, boring question :-)
I like mismatched furniture actually. I may well have got a different colour, but I am sure it is OK. Just think of stately homes where they have very different designs of sofas and chairs in one room. I think it indicates individuality!!
Only your opinion matters realy lylabella because it is your living room. They certainly dont need to be matching.
I bought a black leather recliner for myself then Mr S decided he wanted one, we didnt want all black furniture so we bought another recliner and matching settee in brown buffalo hide, looks fine together and we never gave it another thought.
