yes, it was a lousy ending, but that may mean that it wasn't the end......I suppose it all depends on how well it was received and if the money is there to make more episodes.

TNT announced in July they are renewing "Falling Skies" for a second series of 10 episodes.

I have still to wathc the last episode but they are making 10 new episodes for Summer 2012.
