Since then the two companies have moved much closer together, with BSkyB buying Virgin Media TV's own channels (Virgin 1, Living, Livingit, Challenge, Challenge Jackpot, Bravo, Bravo 2) last year. As part of the same deal, Virgin Media acquired long-term rights to carry Sky1, Sky2, Sky3, Sky News, Sky Sports News, Sky Arts and Sky Real Lives.
With a long-term agreement signed only 14 months ago, and with Google finding nothing on a 'news' search or with a 'date restricted' search (to suggest that the agreement has broken down), it would seem likely that you've been on the receiving end of a myth (which might well have had its origins in an earlier dispute).
