My daughter went to the dentist this morning and when she came home she was using her heating tongs. She wasnt looking at what she was doing and the tongs have made a dent in her face because her cheek was deadened by the injection. It is red and sore should she get it looked at or treat it herself.? Many thanks

Oh! dear....I presume that the skin isn't broken.

Ice pack or frozen peas apply and hold to the affected area and Ibuorfen 400mgms to ease the pain.

Reassess the situation in 6 hours time.

OK Thankyou sqad. x
Some of the tongs heat up to a dangerously high temperature. Even just the briefest of contact with skin can create a painful burn.

I managed to burn my forehead a few months back - don't straighten your hair whilst using the computer.
I am sitting here wincing. Sincerely hope she is OK lilacben.
me tooLB, it's odd when you have been to the Dentist and your face is numb, I can't tell you how many times I have bitten my lip or inside my cheek :-(

update on this subject. My daughters face still has a dent in it and although not red as such but off colour, if that makes sense. She says it doesnt hurt but tingles. It is about one inch long. Am I right in thinking if a burn is like this then it has burnt deeply that is why it doenst smart like a burn usually does.?
It could be that the surface nerve endings have been damaged/destroyed which is why she doesn`t feel pain.
Don't jump to any conclusions, just watch the burn and if the skin isn't broken, but just red then all will be fine.
Just for today I wouldn't apply any creams or dressings.

Keep us informed.
Put some aloe vera gel on it (preferably straight from the plant).
