NHS Band 3 Interview Help
3 Answers
I have just found out I have an interview for an Administrator/Receptionist role at band 3 (I am currently in records at band 2) and it is this Wednesday. I am panicking as I have little time to prepare. Can anyone shed any light on what I need to learn before said interview and where would be best to get reliable information etc... The job spec is quite vague so it's hard to know what to prepare for. Any experience you could share would be good. Also I need a reliable source for waiting list times - after much googling I keep getting varied times and dates.
Thank you

All I can suggest to you is that you look hard at the job description which came with the job advert, and emphasise at the interview those parts of the JD which you are good at and where you have experience. Generally a band 3 job is more autonomous than a band 2 - so if you would be working more under your own initiative delegated within the limits of your JD, whereas on a band 2 you would be working under instructions from someone else. It's more responsible.
You can try to show also that you know something about the department where you would be working, what sort of work they undertake there. You don't have to know all the answers for the interview, you can say that it's a new area but you are willing to learn if you are lucky enough to get the job.
Why such short notice? Is it an internal vacancy?

Hello Boxtops,
I have no idea why is was such short notice... I assume many internals have applied - they come up very rarely especially for admin. I will comb through the job spec tonight again but it is quite vague, I suppose I am concerned as the position is understandably full of tasks that I do not undertake in my current position so I would need to learn alot more. Which is fine by me as I love to learn and learn fast but I am concerned that people in other departments that have applied will already have this experience. I have never been very good at selling myself. Ironically the interview is tomorrow and I have an interview skills course the next week to help my confidence in further interviews. Funny. I do have the advantage of having been a supervisor before and have managed a fairly large team so will try and concentrate on what I CAN do rather than what I can't?!
Thanks
