Was I mean?

Boy #1 started secondary school today (loved it) and had some busy work to do (not really proper homework). He had no exercise books to do it in so I gave him some A4 lined paper, told him to put his name, etc on it and underline it neatly. Thirty minutes later he's back downstairs having ripped the bottom off one piece of paper (as he hadn't used it) and having underlined without using a ruler. I made him re-do it properly (there wasn't much). Do you think I was mean?

Sher glad he loved his first day at big school, I think you did the right thing otherwise how would he know about presentation? He should do better next time due to you. I don't think you were mean at all.
