I have a grade II listed building- which is an ex-bank. The front of it is Victorian, ornate carved stone, which is great, but since it is on the main road, is very dirty indeed and look almost derelict from the outside. I can't afford the 1500 to have it specially cleaned, and wondered whether there would be any grants available for listed buildings. It would also benefit the High Street, I feel, by looking nice!

google on listed building grants to start you off, I had a look at the list and many of the websites seem to refer to grants from local councils so you could ask there
I also live in a Grade II listed property and wanted to forwarn you before you do anything rash to your home.  Some of the buildings in our area have been sand blasted to clean them up and this has really spoiled their charm and character.  They now look too clean and most residents have now decided to leave well alone.  Perhaps there's a middle ground however, a more gentle technique that won't leave a beautiful old house looking like a new house!
speak to your council Conservation Officer, if they are any good they will advise you on the best solution.
When I renovated a Cat 2 I was able to apply for 2000 a year for external work.
