I've got swamped with information and so I wonder if any of you clever Abers can advise. In replacing my kitchen, the following points apply:
I like using gas for hob and oven
I'd like to have a separate eye-level grill - this was so easy with old-fashioned gas cookers - but now it seems I either have to have an electric eye-level grill, or subscribe to the Arsup school of design and have one at hip level ie a 'double oven'.
So are there any options that I have missed for an eye-level gas grill?
Second option - these cast iron sheet gizmos that you slap on the hob for grilling stuff ....any good? Do they work for toast?
If I understand you correctly, Mos ................ I've done this before by jacking a gas double oven (with grill) up to eye level........... simple as that.
Grill at eye-level, oven at chest level............ no Arsup at all.
Put a cupboard full of pans, junk etc underneath :o)
I guess the cast-iron sheet is to emulate the American type griddle........ as used by short-order cooks in diners. Wonderful things for chapatis too. Don't know why they never caught on over here. Toast is fine. Just like fried bread without the "fry".
Canon used to make an eye level grill a a separate entity, but I bleieve they sold the patent on to a Chinese company so maybe a bit of Googling may produce something?B.
Kitchen is way too small, floor lading probably wouldn't cope, they cost too much to buy let alone install, and the next buyer will only rip it out in any case. I have often thought of them in the past but for the foregoing reasons, I don't think an aga is the answer. Plus I'd still have to bend down to it.
