I hope that this is the right answer. I checked the B&O website to try to find the instructions for the AV9000. There's nothing listed under this name, so I'm hoping that it's the same (or a least the same instructions) as the BeoSound 9000. My next problem was that I had to register as a site member before I could access the information. (A long and tedious process, including e-mail verification). I finally managed to get the PDF file which, despite being only half a meg, took about 20 minutes to download! I then had 2 problems: First, I couldn't link to the PDF because it was on a 'members only' page. Secondly, I couldn't copy & paste from the PDF because it used lots of diagrams and special symbols which can't be posted on AB. So, I've tried to summarise the information. (After all that, I really hope that it's correct!):
To tune:
Press 'Tune'
Press 'AM/FM' to select required band
Press 'Up' or 'Down' arrow to commence search.
When a station is found the search will stop. If you don't want to store the station press 'Up' or 'Down' to continue.
When you want to store a station, press 'OK'
You will be offered the first vacant programme number. To change this, press 'P.No'. Then press 'Up' or 'Down' to choose the programme number you want. Then press 'OK'. 'Stored' will appear in the display.
Continue procedure for further stations.
To clear presets:
Go to the relevant programme.
Press 'Clear'. Press 'OK'.
To fine tune a station:
If fine tuning is required, go to the relevant programme. Press 'Tune' twice.
Use 'Up' or 'Down' buttons to achieve fine tuning.
Press 'OK' twice.

(2nd Part):
To change from Mono to Stereo:
The system should automatically switch to Mono if there's not a strong enough signal for Stereo reception. To do this manually, press 'Tune' three times.
Use 'Up' or 'Down' button to toggle between Mono and Stereo.
Press 'OK'.
The system will now recognise your setting as the default for this programme.
To name programmes:
Go to the relevant programme.
Press 'Naming'.
Use 'Up' or 'Down' buttons to select first letter of name.
Press 'OK' to move to next letter.
Continue until completed. After last letter, press 'OK' twice.
(Pressing 'Radio' at any time stores the name and exits the naming function)
To clear a name:
Press 'Naming' and 'Clear'
To use radio:
Select programme required either by using 'Up' and 'Down' buttons or by prssing '1' to '9'.
Move through the 4 displays by repeatedly pressing the 'OK' button.
Happy listening!
