Would be nice ....sometimes when threads are escalating into something unpleasant I really wish I had the power to protect them from their own silliness.... sometimes I think just a 10 minute break with a message that comes up on the screen saying calm down go and have a cup of tea would be really useful

Good idea Rowan. Think Ed. should consider this and that moderators should have the power to temporarily halt a thread when it gets out of hand.
