I hope you have more luck with gas fitters than I did many years ago, Sherrardk.

After getting a fault fixed with the flue to the gas fire in my rented bedsit, I spent over TWO YEARS trying to get the East Midlands Gas Board to come and refit the gas fire to which they'd attached one of those little red stickers. (They repeatedly failed to turn up, or forgot to bring the correct parts). Eventually I received a letter from them abut the matter. It wasn't an apology; it was a SUMMONS to attend court to face a criminal charge of failing to have a dangerous gas appliance properly reconnected!
lol Chris...

Hi nudgescuffler - how do you stay warm?

Hi AYG - he's coming back to quote for a new boiler on Saturday but the earliest he could fit it is 10 October (and it will take four days).

Hi Buenchico - that's a bit of a nightmare. Take it you didnt get inot any trouble at the end of it all.

This is going to be awkward as we rent and the landlord is a fusspot (but concerned about our lack of heat or hot water - do have a show that does hot water on demand though). If he does change the boiler there will be a gaping hole in the living room so my husband is going to suggest that he (my husband that is) will put in a free wood burner for the landlord.
