Deviated Septum?

I went to my local GP a few months ago after my nose became blocked to the point where i had to constantly breathe through my mouth. She diagnosed me with Allergic Rhinitis and gave me betamethasone drops and antihistamine tablets which have cleared my left nostril. However, my right nostril is still quite blocked about 90% of the time and very difficult to breathe through. Sometimes it clears for a short while but only for about an hour before becoming blocked again.
I've noticed (particularly in photos) that my nose profile is different on either side- my left side being a lot sharper and hooked. Is it possible that I may have a deviated septum? And if so, any chance i can be referred for surgery?

Any suggestions?

Thank you!

It was pretty horrid. He said he wouldn't have it done again. It was worse than his orchidectomy (to the uninitiated, that's having one of his testicles removed). He said "I may have lost one of my battles, but I will win the war". I'll always remember that.
I had this problem and had a constantly blocked nose all through childhood. I had an operation to cut away part of my septum which was leaning too far in one direction. I had a splint in my nose for a few weeks. When it was removed, I could BREATHE for the first time EVER. It was amazing. HOWEVER, afer a couple of days it started to go back to the way it was before. The problem was not my septum, but my allergic nature- asthma/eczema/a constantly irritated nose lining. So, I did a detox and gave up dairy for several weeks. Within a few days EVERYTHING from my nose and head (!) came out. It was like the worst flu and cold ever. After a few days I felt amazing. I could breathe through my nose and have been fine ever since- that was about 6 years ago. My blocked nose was caused by an intolerance to dairy. By dealing with the underlying cause of the irritated skin my nose, I sorted the problem. It's a shame that I had to go through the surgery unnecessarily. (p.s- a few weeks after the surgery I had the worst nose bleed ever. I was taken into hospital and had to have my nose lining cauterised while I sat and watched. The doctor said "Can you smell that? That's YOU burning".
Ihad this complaint and in fact had two ops over ten years to help.I could not even taste for years and my nose was running constantly. If there are present and the chances are great sea a decent ent chap and get it sorted .It isnot that bad and boy what a relief.
