Has anyone used VirginMedia`s Security Software?
I have their broadband etc.
Keep getting a pop-up telling me to download it but to uninstall any other Security Software first.
I have Norton installed and have always used this.

What does anyone know about VM Security,if it is OK to have only this installed et

What Norton are you using exactly?
Where/when does popup appear? When you use (which) browser?

Actually the Virgin Media is very good - based on Kaspersky.

Pop-up comes up at botton right-hand corner when I start up my laptop.

So,hc4361 ,is it ok to use,it is free (at least to me it is,with being a VM customer) so worth using if it gives me complete protection.

It won't improve on what you have already.

There will be a process running that displays that pop-up when you start and network fires up.
That's the bad bit.

I have been using it for some years without problem. I find it unobtrusive and it does the job.
I also use the free Virgin 2gb backup for very important docs and photos. Not a huge space, but still good for a freebie.

Right,I am going to have to think about this.
I suppose I could try it and if I don`t like it can install and go back to Norton.

Would I be able to it on all my pc`s,have a desktop,laptop and netbook and usually buy the Norton for 3PC`S.

As a more up-to-date bit of prejudice, I bought Norton Internet Security in January this year, and uninstalled it a couple of months later because of resource hogging.

A few months later I thought that maybe I had misjudged it and re-installed it to give it another go; a month later I got rid of it again.

Where is this pop-up that you keep getting telling you to install their security software? I think it's a bit ironic that they're trying to get you to download something that will supposedly protect you from malware and "nag messages" by using a nag message.

I wouldn't touch it. There are such high quality free alternatives that are tried and trusted, like Avast! that there's no reason to rely on skinned and/or proprietary ventures from ISPs.

I used Microsoft Security Essentials on the main desktop and a laptop, and Avast! on a second desktop. I'm with Virgin Media too and have never seen a pop up ad for their security software.

Mobius, Virgin IS free, nag free (once installed) and well respected and much used by Virgin customers.

Pop up didn`t show today.I have seen on VM website about their security sofware in the past ,it is not a new thing.
If it is secure,it is worth trying and hc4361 seems to to be happy with it,may just have a go...after all it is FREE!!!!!

Is there anyone else out there who has used /using it????

Personally I'd stick with norton until your current license for it runs out then swap over to the virgin one, if it's based on kaspersky then it should be pretty good.

I'd also uninstall the virgin software you must have installed for you to be getting the popup. assuming you are connecting using a router and not a modem then you don't need any extra software installed on your computer.

Have never installed any VM software.
My Norton runs out in 39 days so will have another look at the VM Security...

I have just bought a new 3-user for a year .. packaged .. £16 delivered.
I only use NAV .. not I Security ... although Bibblebub is wrong, and I know it is not a resource hog (like Norton used to be) He has other issues.
