I live in Scotland (that place attached to the UK) and would like to know if there is an optimum month to prune a 'roddy' please?

I wouldn't prune at the moment - they are just forming next years flower buds.

Best time to prune is after the plant has flowered.
Yes ... It was erected without planning permission and attached to that rather large garden wall across N. England we built to protect our territory years back : )

After flowering .. as soon as all died back .. is always the best policy.
This way, it can get it's growth ready for next spring.
If you prune now .. you will likely be cutting away flowering buds.

Hope my patriotic bracket didn't offend anyone- I do get annoyed on websites which have long sub-menus of world countries and Scotland is not included!
Anyway- thanks for your responses....
