Following on from Khandro's thread about childrens tv, there are many 'lost' prgrammes which when mentioned warms the cockles of our hearts.

Secsee 1: >>Captain Pugwash with Master Bates & Seaman Stains (were the names deliberate or just an unfortunate coincidence)<<

you forget Roger the cabin boy!

In fact I think you will find that none of those names were actually in it apart from Captain Pugwash, a bit of an urban myth maybe?
Urban myth, which i believe has been mentioned before.
You're right, Ratter.
In 1991 Ryan won libel damages from two newspapers after they had published stories that the BBC had taken Captain Pugwash off the air because of the risqué names of some of the crew aboard the Black Pig, namely Master Bates, Seaman Staines and Roger the Cabin Boy. In fact, these were names dreamed up by students in the 1970s for university “rag mags”, and which had somehow managed to pass into the realms of urban myth.
