How do I put digital camera photos onto a computer ?

I am new to all of this stuff, and I have been given a digi camera.
I do not know where to start.

Did the camera come with a USB cable? If it did just plug the camera into the computer and the rest is fairly straight forward.

Did your camera come with any software? If it did this will usually enable you to do this.
Otherwise, if you plug the camera in to PC you should be able to access its memory card using Win Explorer and move images onto PC.

No software at all, but the camera does work

if you had a cable and disk with the camera load the disk onto the computer first

then when you have taken some pictures connect the camera with the cable to the computer

you should see instructions on screen and away you go

If your camera has an sd card you can take it out of the camera and insert it into the card reader on your computer (if it has one) and a file should open automatically for you to view your pictures

Some cameras will automatically install the required software to your PC. when you plug them in.

What USB cable did you order?

There are number of USB connectors and one that may be suitable for say a printer may not be suitable for a camera.

I have two different cameras, and they both take different USB connectors.

As well as the "standard A" which plugs into your PC there is USB mini B, USB micro A, usb micro B etc so you need the right one for your camera..

Did you check the connector your camera has?

I rang a camera parts shop and they knew the camera I had been given.
