Yes, I'm having trouble with this top-right corner:
1down. Clue: Accusation of assault? (6) ??A?G?. I have CHARGE which seems ok.
2 down. Clue: Tried hard to get right within range (6) ??R?V? I have STROVE which again seems fine.
This gives 1 accross (see clue above) C?S? D?W? Something wrong! Help please.

Yes, palestani, I have seen it but where do "birds" come into it? Do birds "cast down" and if so what does it mean? Are we talking about Trafalgar Square pigeons here?
down is the soft feathers of a young bird which are eventually moulted i.e. cast
down is the first feathers on a bird. They'd cast down before the adult feathers developed
