Dragons Den

Just watched an episode of the above - the one which includes the two women who hire out movie quality cameras for weddings .
All of the dragons stated that it was a good business , although only one made an offer .
However i'm thinking if the market is out there for the business to grow to where it was making huge amounts of profit .
Afterall when it comes to your big day would you really risk uncle Arthur shooting the pictures and making a mess of it - or would you hire a professional ?

What do they do with them for the rest of the time?

i posted a thread about this earlier - it sounds a dubious business to me, can't believe the girls got backing from Hilary.

I think it's another example of a service provider trying to do as little as possible for the most amount of money. I went to a wedding reception once where each table was provided with a couple of cheap disposable cameras, the idea being that everyone photograph themselves around the table. I never saw the results.
I was in the wedding business years ago when I owned a chauffuer company. I always watched as I waited for the wedding photographers and video-makers and they always arranged and directed the pictures with great care. They all seemed to exhibit great professionalism. That's the difference with this idea - there's absolutely nothing professional about it.

The sample on their website www.shoot-it-yourself.co.uk is appalling - bad filming by real amateurs of mostly drunken guests. I can't see how the 2 business women could edit a film to be worth seeing if the filming was bad in the first place!
I also went to a 60th birthday party held in a really posh hall where guests were provided with disposable cameras on each table. Our friend whose birthday it was, bitterly regretted having all 20 camera films developed - cost him a fortune and were mostly rubbish taken by drunken guests of peoples feet and of each other gurning at the camera!.
