What software to install to be able to download music MP3 format from Youtube?
8 Answers
I should like to download music free from youtube: old songs not availabe any other way, specially Italians from 50's and 60's, San Remo Festivals, Napolitano songs by long dead artists. I should llike to save them MP3 format to than I can convert them to CD format to play on my CD players.(I nver progressed to have MP3 or4 players nor DVDs etc...etc...)
What software should I install? and how do I install if any: which website should I look? etc..
I have laptop HP, with home vista from 2007; I also have Kaspersky installed.
any replies highly appreciated, ansd keep it simple as I am not very computer literate though I managed with Audiocity when converting my tapes to MP3 then to cd.
thank you very much.

HRL? I think that you mean URL ;-)
A URL (uniform resource locator) is simply a web address. It's probably best (but not essential) to have two tabs (or windows) open in your browser. In one tab go to the page where the YouTube video is. Right-click in the address bar and select 'copy'. Then, in the other tab, go to http://www.l istentoyoutu be.com/...

There's no need to download anything. There's a free online service which will do the job for you:

Thank you Chris; I am computer illiterate, and this website tells me to write in HRL site or something to this effect, what is it?
I usually go to youtube, and type in the name of artist or the style I want then songs come up, I click on one this leads me to others etc...etc... when I find one I like and do not yet have in my collection (from years before bought on tapes or cds) I'd like to save.
So this is what i do not know how to do. thank you , and sorry i might annooy you with my ignorance, but am a beginner! thanks again taking the trouble.

Agree with mjwman except I use Cool Edit Pro (also known as Adobe Audition).
Record in real time making sure 'wave out' is enabled on your sound card's 'record'. Same goes for ANYTHING you can hear online and want to record.
Also FYI - you can keep anything you've watched on Youtube *forever* by picking it out of your "temp internet files" if your browsing history is set to 'on' and your video software can handle FLV files.
