I find it a bit of a pain polishing the paintwork with one product then having to do the glass, plastics, chrome, etc, with something else. Is there a polish or product available that lets you polish the entire car in one go? It would be so much quicker and easier if there was!

I had a neighbour who used furniture polish [i.e. Pledge, Mr Sheen, etc] and used to get fantastic results, but not being a specific vehicle polish I wonder if there might be a chemical in it [i.e. salt] that might not be so kind to metal in the long term.

i use demon shine for the lot, have done for a few years now, its bright pink spray on liquid in asda or halfords, its great and i take pride in my car.
it says not to use it on other parts of the vehicle other than bodywork but thats just because they want you to buy all theyre other products.
Hi Manta,

There's a very good product called 'Mer' (I think it's Dutch) which can be used on all surfaces such as bodywork and glass. 'Mer' is sold in many motor shops including Halfords and it comes in a square, blue plastic bottle with a chrome top. 'Mer' is more of a lacquer which sits on top of the paint or glass. You have to apply it wet - either while the car is still wet after a wash or with a wet cloth. It then dries to a white powder after a few minutes which you just polish off leaving a rich, deep, mirror shine. You'll be amazed at the result.

PS.
Mer is good on bodywork, glass, colour-coded trim and alloy wheels. It's not too good on black plastic trim though. You should use a black trim conditioner for that such as 'Back to Black'.

Good luck!

Thanks betterman just what I wanted, I bought some in Halfords today. Also bought some Turtle Wax Ice Liquid for when the car needs waxing, this also claims to leave no residue as it's a clear liquid.

Thanks also to Andyvon, I have used Mer for years and have achieved excellent results with it on cars that don't have black plastic anywhere on them, but I find it does leave a residue on grainy black plastic.
