Should this failed asylum seeker be allowed to stay?

Her first excuse was she would be persecuted back home in China because she was a member of the Falun Gong religious minority.

Now she is saying that her family would be taken from her because she would face persecution under China's one-child rule.

Thats easy Ankou,send her back to China,a country that is bigger and probably has more job prospects for her kids than here at the moment.At what point Ankou would you stop immigration,when we are standing shoulder to shoulder accross the land or would you wait until we are on each others shoulders as well?

For goodness sake let us have a cut off date. The woman is already here so let the government state a date then stop ALL immigration, all those already here to be allowed to stay. I think we have been extremely lenient so far but enough is enough.

Any idea how that would hit the IT, finance, pharmaceuticals, agriculture and service industries which rely on skilled temporary labour with specific skillsets?

The first thing that would happen is that the service industries would have to hike up salaries for British workers, which would lead to inflation (remember the 70s?)

Furthermore, with a less flexible workforce, industry would become less competitive when compared to other trading nations.

You may think "Just hire Brits to take up the slack", but that's not a robust solution - because in conjunction with the shortfall in skills, you would have industry contracting due to higher interest rates which would be introduced to counter inflation caused by high wage demands.

I THINK I've got that the right way round...but am happy to be corrected.

It seems that you do not care for British jobs for British workers, or would you wish this country turn into a third world country, with the workers working for 'peanuts'?

I don't know what you do sp, but would you be prepared to let an immigrant come to this country and do your job for less money than you get?

Regarding your reference to the British sort fall of skills, haven't we got many young persons graduating from University with the necessary skills but who cannot get a job?
