hi, peeps. i know this is not the traditional place for such a question, but i need a quick answer as it is doing my head in. i recently put a tax claim in for things that i was unaware i could claim for. my tax code has changed from 7771L to 801L and when i rang a very helpful lady in the tax office, she said i would be getting a 'small' refund as this is being backdated to april (7 months ago - and i next get paid on the 28th). how much of a refund am i looking at ? (i am soooooo skint that even £10 would be great!). also, can some one explain how that will be worked out, so that i can do this myself in the future. i can work out other stuff (like NI payments and student loans, but i haven't had any sleep yet and this is way beyond my brain capacity at the moment!). mtia x

after a short nap and dreaming about the taxman (!) i realise i have an extra £300 tax-free income yearly x (7/12) = £42. a princely sum! my first ever tax rebate, ha ha! i'm chuffed with that - and the extra £6 (approx) i will be afforded monthly from now on x
Brill it's like finding a crock of gold, good for you.
