Products without Sodium laureth/laurel sulphate
17 Answers
Can anyone suggest shampoo/shower gel/bubble bath without the ubiquitous Sodium Laurel Sulphate?
If you look at ingredients, this chemical is in almost everything that foams up or bubbles and it is a powerful industrial de-greaser.
I don't agree with rubbing industrial chemicals into my body and hair every morning and am looking for a healthier substitute for me and my kids.
Maybe good old fashioned soap, but what about shampoo?
let me know your thoughts.

I use SLS free products such as Faith in Nature handsoap, shampoo and shower gel . I also have a Jason shampoo and conditioner which is lovely and rich. I like to alternate them. I buy both from the local health food shop but I know you can them them online too.

Its perfectly possible to live a chemical free life at home.
Ecover and Faith in Nature make everything from washing up liquid to car shampoo and limescale remover without the use of chemicals. All of which are safe when washed into our drainage systems and waterways. Most supermarkets stock a selection of them, but local health food stores and online shops stock the full range. I haven't bought bleach now for over 20 years nor have I cleaned my teeth with toothpaste made with sugar!

Apologies - the Kingfisher toothpaste was an incorrect link, it does indeed contain SLS, but Faith in Nature products do not.

ginge, I don't drink alcohol, you're right ! Vodka always smells like Isopropyl alcohol - another solvent/cleaner. And I try to keep salt ingestion to a minimum.
I don't mind naturally occurring products but it is the refined and blended chemicals I am opposed to and the marketing that goes with them, almost forcing us to use them, and getting the resultant itchy scalp, etc.
