my new house needs all new floor coverings, as I have house rabbits living mainly on the ground floor that will be tiled, then I have a first floor and a converted loft. To be able to take full advantage of the slopping ceilings etc possibly carpet better in the loft. In the middle first floor I just don't know.

Carpets -haven't a clue what to look for should it be a mixed twist? I don't want it to stain too bad and go all flat

Wood laminate - I have that where I am renting now it does scratch, but is easy to mop spills. doesn't go flat or have patches where some areas are walked on more that others - that you get with carpet. I assume there would be a higher fit cost for the wood laminate.

Any thoughts/recommendations, thanks

oh and I have original floor boards on most the first floor but a) there's holes in areas b) if it sanded and sealed I wouldn't know how to clean it, is it the same as wood laminate sweep/vac and mop lightly with wood cleaner? Does the seal you paint on the wood stop moisture getting in?

This is a very personal thing but I HATE wood/laminate flooring in a house. I don't care how fashionable it is, it makes everywhere look like a dentist's waiting room imo.
What The Funicular is a "house rabbit"?

If they are on the ground floor why are the ceilings slopping?
