If you have a long memory for TV, you may just possibly be able to give me an answer to this:
In the mid-70s, there was a previously unknown light-skinned black female singer who attracted the attention of the BBC, so much so that they gave her her own series - 6 half hour programmes, I believe, and possibly 2 series. She was a little in the mould of Shirley Bassey, not only with the vocals, but also in her clothing, which was sophisticated, mainly long silky evening gowns.
After the series, she just simply vanished, and to the best of my knowledge, she has not been heard from or seen again on TV. I have a vague memory that her first name was Grace, but I cannot recall her last name.
If this jogs any memories out there, I'd be grateful for any info you can give - especially if you know her current whereabouts or activities.

maybe Selena Jones?
Patti Boulaye ?
That's really interesting. I remember her well and she had a wonderful voice. So she is now a wedding planner and obviously doing well at that. Would be nice to hear her sing again.

Ahhh, thanks very much, Chinajan. I've been trying to recall that name since the BBC drama-documentary a couple of weeks ago about Shirley Bassey, which recalled to me the fact that there was a similar artiste. I wanted to add something by her to my collection, and I've found a CD on Amazon, which I expect is the only album she ever made.
Nice tries, Bibblebub and Jackthehat, with Selena Jones and Patti Boulaye. Oddly enough, every time I tried to recall Grace's last name, I kept thinking Grace Jones, and wishing I could get beyond it! I knew it wasn't Selena, as she had a fairly long track record through the 60s and 70s; and I know Patti Boulaye, as I have one of her albums (and she is very much blacker than Grace) - didn't she start out on a kids' TV show?
Thanks everybody!
