I have just bought a house with a Falcon cooker but the parts of the hob where the gas lights are really black from cooking. Is there anything I can leave to soak on this part to get the grease off? The easiest way to explain is to show you their website :

Where it says Burner Heads about halfway down, the part just below where the support is lifted off .. attached to the hob .. sorry not easy to explain.

I did the lazy thing, and got a firm in to clean my whole cooker. Honestly, it was sparkling like new. Cost about 55£ That way you have not got anyone's grease to scrape off.
Try a mix of cream of tartar mixed with a little vinegar in a paste and apply with a toothbrush and rinse off - this worked on my mum's gas burners
Lakeland do a magic oven cleaning gel that you paint on with a little brush, leave for a few hours, then wipe all the rubbish off - its amazing!
