They aren't all exclusive are they. And they all seem to be to do with the rather low value of 80mph.

Just bear in mind before voting that options 2, 3 and 4 would be nigh on impossible to police, so would never be proposed by any legislator.
'But the section of road where I was speeding, Officer, had no rain on it - I've just come into this shower'. Pull the other one.
What I would like to see is undertaking made legal that way those hogging the outside and middle lanes might move over a bit more often
There are enough cameras out on the Motorways to seek out the people that mostly clog up the lanes! " Centre lane idiots" Book them.
If you go through the Dartford tunnel there is a MINIMUM speed limit. This should apply to all motorways except the minimum limit should be set to 50mph.
rov......50mph minimum....that would be interesting between j7 and j11 on the M6 at peak times.
Where's the option to REDUCE the maximum speed limit to 60mph?

It would be a significant contribution to reducing CO2 emissions, improve road safety and have only a minimal effect on journey times.
"limit Increase to 80mph in the fast lane only"

Who is so thick to propose and vote for that?

So dangerous the fatalities would rocket up, if you want to turn off the motorway you need to get your speed down to 70 before you leave the 80 lane, that means slowing down all cars in the 80 lane.

Completly unworkable! The mind boggles?
and reduce residential districts and outside schools (at opening and closing times) to 20 mph - double fines in school zones as per the States.
Why not implement a standard 55mph limit as in many parts of the USA. I drove 3000 miles around the Eastern seaboard of the US, many on freeways and turnpikes. The maximum speed was 55 and it worked fine. All the traffic did that speed and any vehicle going faster was obvious. Distances in the US are much larger than here but I never had any trouble getting around. I thought it would take for ever to get from A to B but it didn't. Not only that, but it was much more relaxing to drive at that speed compared to the frantic rats' maze of UK motorways where everything travels at different speeds.

The 55mph speed limit was imposed to reduce fuel consumption and pollution levels. Isn't that what we are supposed to be trying to do here? Any car's engine that's thrashing to keep it at 80mph or more is using much more fuel and wear and tear than one that's cruising at 55 or 60. Reducing motorway speeds would be less expensive for the environment and the driver. How many motorways are clear enough for people to drive far at 80mph today anyway?
Reduce CO2? Pah! It's all a con in my book to excuse new taxes. Soon, going to the toilet before 9am will attract a higher tax than if you can hold off until 5pm. The Germans have the right idea, allowing me to max my Vectra on the Autobahn. I pay for the diesel, I'll press the noisy pedal when I want and enjoy the performance where it is safe to do so. Why, oh why, did they have to lose?
