I have fitted 2 wall monted light in my living room, they worked for about 2 hours, and then went out. There was already 2 working wall lights on my wall, all I did was just remove them and replace with 2 new ones.I checked the wiring , and noticed that the earth cable had come away from the connector.I re connected the earth, but the lights still wont work, and this includes the main ceiling light the wall cables are connected to.I have checked the fuse box, and everything is fine.I dont want to call in the professionals unless I have to.Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Having checked the fuse box how do you know that everything is fine? Have you got trips or fuses? If the earth and neutral are connected then your trips will operate. If you can make sense of this you should be able to sort it yourself, if you can't call in a lecky!

recheck all conections at every point.if the wiring is old or in bad condition it should have been replaced.but work should be carried out by a competent or proffesional person.lives are precious

if in doubt, call the spark out! you never can be too careful with elelctricity.

(I thought, we weren't allowed to do jobs like this ourselves anymore, or is that just putting in new wiring for alight that wasn't there before?? is replacing lights ok????)
