My sister in law bought me some lovely pink roses when she came to stay on Saturday but although the vase has plenty of fresh water, all the heads and the leaves have completed drooped. Why?

I have read that it is caused through air bubbles getting in the stem. Try cutting the stems on a slant and putting them in hot water for a few seconds and this is supposed to release any air bubbles caught in the stem then put them into cold water.

Take the roses out of the vase, fill the vase with lukewarm water. If the vase holds, say, about a quart of water, place 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, 2 tabelspoons sugar and 1 teaspoon of liquid bleach (used in laundry) in the water and stir until sugar is dissolved. Cut the rose stems at a slant, as maggie01 states... but hold them under water as you make the cut with sharp scissors. Take them out of the water after cutting and place them immediately into the prepared vase. Try to place them in sunlight, if you can.

Good Luck!
