It might be a lot easier to just pay the fine and watch the speed from now on. [If you were to hurt any of my family through speeding, you won't need to go bungy jumping without a cord].

What you need to do is play the beareaucracy game - it works sometimes. First you send in a cheque, but omit to put the correct date on - dating it 6 months hence is a good idea. If it's returned, send another cheque, with a profuse letter of apology, but omit to sign it. If that fails, they aren't going to let go, so send your payment and smile. There is a good chance that the dud cheques will get lost in the system. Keep copies of your letters and cheques, and if they query, feign ignorance. I once got a ticket for having no tax, and while I was parked on double yellows for the eight minutes it took to buy my disc, I got another ticket for being on the yellows! I finished up paying the original fine, but using the above method, I did slide out of paying the second fine.
If you were caught by a gun, you need to have found out if the gun had been caliberated in the last 24 hrs. They can't lie, and if it hasn't then they can't fine you, but this only works once you've been stopped, so note for future reference. If not, if your fine was 100 (for example) send them a cheque for 101. They can't cash it as the full amount is not legally theirs so they send you back a cheque for 1, which you never cash. If you cash it, they can complete the loop to cash the 100. Dunno if this will work for definate, but thought I'd suggest it. :)
As for the sending 101 that loophole was closed ages ago.
Had a mate who was adamant that he was not speeding.
Ask to see the calibration certificate and all the calibration details used. My mate was advised to asked for the officer that did the calibrating to be present in court so he could be questioned.
Case was dropped, never went to court
