Yep, they can come just 4 miles away from me. There were tremendous objections about that site and they all came from miles around (the travellers) to support the case for the site. They eventualy got their site and all the local objections failed - and it has never been used!! I suppose the problem is that they would have to pay some rent and obey a rules rules and regulations.
Bunch of layabouts, at the mo some are camping on the youngsters football pitch, a few miles away. They've been there for two weeks now, the Council are supposed to be getting a warrant to move them on, I wish they could shift them straight away with bulldozers etc., before they get chance to settle. What annoys me is the travellers' spokesman writes up to our local newspaper bleating about the children and old people being moved on. Last week the Council announced that there are now courses available for Police, Fire and other services @ £90 per person to attend to achieve greater understanding of the travelling community! You couldn't make it up.
