Rabbit question HELP!!

Some of you might remember that I had two girl rabbits about two months ago. They have been the best of friend and very loving towards each other until yesterday when out of the blue one of them started chasing the other and ripping fur out. It was awful.

They have plenty of room as they have a double hutch with a large run and access to a secure garden all day. They are both very loving with me and my children and love being around us.

We spoke to the vet and they said that one needs to dominate and we should allow them to fight and it should put an end to the squabbling once dominant one has been established.


We did this and it looks as if that has happened, but the problem is now that one rabbit is never allowed to come near the house and is chased away once reached a certain point. The strange this is, even though they have separate sleeping quarters, they still chose to cuddle together in the night!

Any advice please would be great!

P.s. We have been advised to have them spayed, but they aren't old enough yet! Have around 1-2 months to go before they can be.

Pinky I've never come across this before and I've had two girls together as well as girl and boy so I'm sorry I can't offer any help. Hopefully somebody else will be able to. Maybe, as you say, spaying will help. Hope so.

The funny thing is, we tried separating them and giving each some time in the garden away from the other, but the one who is being dominated is hell bent on jumping into the run with the dominant one. They are now cuddling together in the hutch as it's night time!

Come the morning they will be fighting again! I'm thinking that the hutch is a neutral territory for them and it's only the garden that's territorial.

Rabbits seem to have resolved their differences now! (not to say it will stay this way)

We're taking them for a health check on Saturday and will discuss further with Vet.

They make good toilet brushes too, their ears get around the corners nicely

DT, you mentioned Hogs Pudding yesterday, we havent had it for years, went out and bought some today for dinner! I wonder what it would be like with rabbit?

probably very good, ratter.......bacon and sausages are better though with it. I love black and white puddings too, (Boudin noir et blanc) as well as haggis. One of the fun things I did many years ago now, living out there, was to go on a course just outside Paris making saucisson and andouillette.....
