Bikes on Trains

Does anyone know off hand if you can still take your bike on a train?

(normal train, Brighton to Victoria)

I want to take my MTB to Smelly London.

I've often seen bikes on the Brighton-Victoria line.

As already posted, cyclists seem to stay near the doors and are excluded from rush hour for obvious reasons.
