I've been 'looking' into family on my fathers side,have discovered 2 brothers for my dad,which ,it appears he's no knowledge of.1 died in 1949,the other I can only find he was born in 1919,nothing else.nay ideas please?

Where have you been searching? Herself has got quite into this genealogy thing and she started with Free BMD, then used Census sites, Genes Reunited. It all depends on how much you are prepared to spend searching. She also did a course at the Society of Genealogists. Their web-site might be helpful.

What exactly are you looking for? Are you trying to locate the other / find out whether he is still alive?

You might try posting in History/Genealogy.

What sort of ideas were you thinking of ? Subscription to a genealogy site with consequentual access to the BMD records can be a good start. Also the cenus records. If you post your tree you may find others asking about your famiy members or you can contact likely relatives too.

As DocHH suggests the freebmd and similar sites are fine if you don't require a polished 'front end' to type into.

cheers guys,have been ongenes reunited & the likes, have found grand parents,dad's brother that we knew about +the 2 Freds,1 that that died in'49,but nothing but the birth of Fred the 2nd.will have another try.thanks for the suggestions,Petal
