Multiple cold sores

I have had some sort of a bug for the last few days - very sore throat which also makes my ears sore when I swallow, freezing cold, a bit achy etc. Have been happy enough to treat it myself with strepsils and paracetamol.
When I got up this morning it had turned into a bit more of a cold - cough, bit wheezy etc. I was still happy enough with that until the cold sores started to pop up.
One started on my bottom lip shortly after getting up but by this evening I have 3 along my bottom lip, 1 on my top lip, 1 on my nose, 1 at the corner of my mouth which has continued with another 3/4 blisters from there towards my chin/jawline.
I do suffer from cold sores but have never experienced anything like this. Because I have experience of them I am always careful about handwashing etc to prevent spread.
I have used acyclovir on them and will use the compeed patches which I find help minimizes them but I was wondering whether I should be talking to a pharmacist or doctor about it?

PS - One of my eyes is a little irritated too which has never happened before.

I'd ask a pharmacist for advice - I've only ever had one at a time. Worth checking the eye too.
Ask squad.
Try taking L-Lysine 1 x 1000mg for a few days - it clears up cold sores really quickly.
See 'Herpetic keratoconjunctivitis' here:

It's definitely worth getting things checked out.
I will assume that you have no other underlying condition and that you are not taking any long term medication.

I can add little more than the above contributors, use Acyclovar for the ulcers and just watch the eye irritation as if it continues for more than 48hours or deteriorates in that time, then see your GP.
if you have been using acyclovir for a long time you might want to try fenistil instead its a bit more expensive . I'm suffering like you at the moment.. mine usually spread up into my nose...
visit your pharmacist.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I made a trip to my friendly local pharmacist on Friday and stocked up with acyclovir, compeed patches, strepsils, cough bottle and paracetamol. Oh and cream for the conjunctivitis.

Don't know what the problem was, but it seems to have run its course and I am left with a bit of a gooey eye, still have a sore throat and the ugly remains of all the old sores.
No need for me to be looking for a Halloween costume - I look horrific!!
