didnt think courts specialised in anything, its down to baristers, solicitors, lawyers etc. to specialise
Ours certainly don't, they do a bit of everything. Usually different classes of cases on different days, I think.
Hi Hettster- I'm not sure what you are getting at. Perhaps if you can clarify the reason for the question we might be able to offer guidance
County courts only handle civil matters (e.g. disputes over debts and applications for CCJs).

Tribunals, rather than courts, deal with most employment disputes.

Magistrates courts generally handle relatively minor criminal cases (although even the most serious offences, such as murder, have to pass through them). They also handle a few civil matters but those take up only a relatively amount of the courts' time.

Crown Courts deal with serious criminal cases, which have been referred to them by magistrates.

Family matters are dealt with in various courts. See here:

(That link refers to Norfolk but the basic principles apply across the whole of England and Wales).

Chris
It appears that the majority of County Court Judgements seem to be dealt with in Northampton.

Whilst I am pleased with all the answers there are two that I would like to nominate as best answer and they are . . . . in no particular order . . . Buenchico & Jackthehat. Thanks to all that took the time to answer the question.
I think Northampton has a fast track, online debt claim section.

You can issue a claim online, and pay the court fee by credit card. The claim is then issued from Northampton, and only transferred to the defendant's local court if it becomes defended.

Because of this, an unusually high proportion of debt actions are issued by Northampton County Court.
The County Court Bulk Centre (CCBC) is a County Court in England and Wales created to deal with claims by the use of various electronic media. Unlike other County Courts the CCBC does not physically hear cases. If any case might require a hearing it is transferred to another County Court.

The CCBC is located in Northampton.
