Couldn`t find a better place to put this.

Is anyone au fait with an EVOKE radio and an OASIS PURE radio?

I have a special reason for asking.

No hurry, Tina

i have seen them in the shops, but as far as i know they are expensive
i can't see how they would be particularly different, price perhaps?
they are both DAB radios i think.

Flippin` eck you`re quick, em.

Not the price, but the quality I`m interested in. Or reputation. Is one considered a dud , for instance. I`ll let you in to a little secret. If you read the i newspaper (a jolly good read as well as value for money) you`ll notice that the Friday cryptic crossword always advertises an EVOKE radio as the prize. I won it recently but received instead an OASIS. After 5 weeks it blinked its last and died. (Check out the review Oasis website and read what I did). Now I`d like to know if anyone has ever won and received the EVOKE or is this just a way to offload a lemon.

I forgot to add that I promptly received a replacement radio, OASIS again. Yet to be tried out.
no, but then i am not going to pay 150 quid for any radio, not one that doesn't sing, dance, and pours me a drink. Suggest if the one you won broke, contact i paper, or the company running it, and tell them its a dud. And to send the correct make. I doubt there's much to choose between them, have a look at what they cost, make your eyes pop
Well, Pure is the manufacturer of both the Evoke and the Oasis models. The Evoke is FM/DAB and the Oasis has internet radio as well. Given the choice, I'd have the Oasis - and Pure is a very good make, incidentally!
ok you got the right one, but suggest that you try it out, if it does the same as the other, perhaps it was a bad batch, or the paper needed to offload lots of dodgy gear.
...and some Evoke models DO have internet radio as well (confused). I've had a Pure radio for several years and it's been no problem at all.
sorry you didn't get the right one, but as said it could be a lemon, that's why they are getting shot. Contact the paper, they should shed some light.
I looked up the prices of both, there are different types of course, but its staggering.

thanks em and ginge, appreciate your interest. I did remind that that Evoke had been advertised when I informed them that the first had died, but they still sent me the Oasis again.
The site I went on to showed many complaints about the Oasis, some cited the temperature as important & some had to warm them up on a radiator or similar. Some said that there was a dud batch of the internal batteries. (What do I know about these things)
Anyway, we`ll see how this second one goes.
Thanks again
sounds more like the wireless me gran used to have, good luck

Just to finish this story off.

I did receive a third radio and that one never worked for one second!

I wasn`t going to spend another moment wasting my time contacting the i newspaper again for a replacement radio that I really didn`t need in the first place. Neither do I buy their newspaper either in case I`m tempted to do their crossword. Couldn`t stand to win another radio again!
