I usually forget to observe two minutes of silence to remember those who fought in previous wars.

However I do try to remember all year round that many died in pointless wars, fighting in dreadful conditions not for the freedom of others but for politics and greed.

It saddens me that the lives of military personnel and innocent civilians are blighted by the inability of our species to live in peace - we have learned nothing from history.
