Good Morning ABers, do any of you know about hygiene regulations regarding public house staff? I visited a pub yesterday with the intention of having a sandwich or bar snack after drinking a pint or two first, it seemed a very nice friendly pub being run by two girls who looked in their 20s, half way through my first pint I noticed that both girls were eating crisps and snacks behind the bar which at first seemed quite innocent until I saw both girls picking out their teeth with their finger nails and then licking their fingers afterwards. Just after that a customer in the pub who had a small dog with him passed the animal over the bar and both girls took the dog in their arms stroking it then passed it back to the customer, the girls then carried on serving people drinks without washing their hands first.
I am sure that there must be laws against this sort of thing in pubs or am I just being paranoid?

Eddie, I would be interested in seeing the actual "Act" that forbids these dogs in food serving or dining areas. I have searched on-line but everybody and everything disagrees with what you are saying.
I saw a strange sight in a folk music bar once. A girl came out of the toilets and walked up to the barman and started to run her fingers through his luxuriant beard. After a few minutes she asked: 'Do you know there's no toilet paper in the ladies loo?'
I really can't understand people being so twee about this sort of thing.
How many of you go about your day, in and out shops pushing doors, handling money, feeling the merchandise, sneeze, rub your eyes, pike your ears and nose, fiddle with your coat buttons or zips, do your laces up, browse through 2nd hand books, then casually eat a packet of crisps, chocolate buttons, chips whatever, without washing your hands with anti bacterial cleaner
Exactly Barry...

If you thought too much about all the food you eat and what it might have come into contact with then you'd never eat again.
Eddie, Trading standards may not like it but who is asking them too, im not, they just need to accept it, not a lot they can do about it.

There would be an uproar! just take a look here:

Agree Evian.

Thanks for that link Ratter. I've checked and my pub is on it and get's the most stars of any pub in Hove so I'm well chuffed with that.
