How on earth can the govt sanction this when the NHS is in dire straits ? its going to cost approx £800 per birth ! yes if its a medical necessity of course but on a whim, what about the extra complications it brings, longer stay in hospital etc, have they thought it through properly.Spend the money on training more midwives.
Before you ask, yes I have had three natural births.

It's done a bit more sympathetically now Tambo. My friend has had 3 C sections and she doesn't have a large belly.

Everyone is different...
I had to have a ceasarean when I had thing 1 and thing 2. Why anyone would choose to have one is beyond me.
I think that as well Sher.

I had one of those camera thingys put in my belly button....that was bad enough.
Ummm, ask the 50+ age group who had bikini cuts. Am just warning young mums from my aged experience.
I had 3 shifts of staff for my first (38 hour in total) labour, plus a doctor for the grand finale.

pretty costly, I should think. I recall begging for a c-sect 8 hours before my huge baby was dragged into the world by said doctor!
Things have moved on since then Tambo....*sigh*
I think that it is crazy, but considering that many women are leaving it later to have children, perhaps some see this as a safer option.
the night i had little one, she was a normal labour until they broke my waters. i was then given an hour to get her out but started to get panicky and blacked out a couple of times. i had to haver a forceps delivery, and you guess what there was enough bored staff in that night for me to have a nice audience!!
if there are no problems I would rather have a natural birth any day.
I'm sure there was an AB'er on here a couple of weeks ago whose daughter had a C-Section on the Wednesday and they were back home the following day.
I've no idea if it was on-demand or not.
