The fast lane flashers

You know who you are! Anyone prepared to own up and explain why they think someone in their way is likely to respond positively when they get up your exhaust pipe and flash their lights. This happenned to me the other day I was on a dual carraigway and I saw a faster car in the mirror and was just about to get over when the car flashed at me. So I stayed there and held them up by getting next to a truck and matching it's speed about fifty, the driver behind was getting more and more furious, plonker! But I was about to move over, clearly not promptly enough for this moron. What in there wildest dreams makes drivers think that flashing there lights at you will help?

I'm not aware of any special rights or status that "military surveillance" cars have on our roads are you?

I thought that was why we had special branch.

the law states that emegency vehicles (plus Military Law regarding Defence of the Realm) have permission to break certain road traffic law in certain circumstances. They are not however exempt from any Law at the same time, if that makes sense. i.e if a police car goes through a red light and kills someone even though his blue lights and sirens were blarring he would have only the same defences in law to a normal car.

the only people that are allowed to do this are the police.  All other pretentious idiots - try doing that to me and I might just touch the brake peddle!! How dare these so called "drivers" think that they can do this. Her Majesty the Queen owns the highways not them.  The worst is when you are doing 70 to overtake a slower driver and then the prat who thinks they own the road is up your arse quicker than his flashing headlights!  I will not give in to these idiots and hope they do not end up in a crash in front of me - that would be just a nuiscence!!

I think if you get a car up your behind flashing you whilst you're overtaking and the first thing that goes through your mind is "I'd better get out of the way it's probably a military emergency in the defence of the realm" you're likely to be wrong.

The ratio of military emergencies to plonkers is vanishingly small. On reflection that's probably a good thing

Imagine the scenario...you are cruising 80-85mph,fine weather light traffic on any motorway you could wish to mention,nearside lane,half a mile ahead is a h.g.v travelling approx 60 mph,with a red micra 16" from the back of the truck...how come he decides to overtake just as you are about to overtake them both? Then when he does impede your progress he decides to overtake as slowly as poss?He will then eventually revert back to the nearside lane,then slow back down to 50mph,right in front of the truck!..only when people drive in this manner am i tempted to flash them out of the way,although i never have.

I only ever flash if the driver in front if they pull out in front of me and then trundle along, I was always told that you should never perform a manouver if in doing so you will cause another vehicle to brake or take avoiding action, I also flash when they insist on travelling in the overtaking lanes without overatking things (i.e inside lane clear, driver sits in the middle lane, or middle lane clear and driver sits in outside lane) or if they are driving a BMW (fair game really!). I particularly hate those drivers who think the middle lane is theirs and then insist on travelling at 60 in it I wish my car had some kind of gun so that I could 'remove' this type of menace from the road.
