I own a 2006 Toyota

As above I own a 2006 Toyota with a 26,000-28,000 mileage - in good nick. However I am finding it a bit too big and am thinking of dropping down to a mini - any advice - I do think it is a ladies car. Thanks for any answers.

I assume you mean the new BMW Mini and not the Classic Mini Connemmara? The new Mini is hardly small - they are the same weight as a 1970's family saloon like a Cortina! They are also very complex and expensive to service and maintain. A Classic Mini would be something to 'drop down to' though - fun, easy to maintain, full of character etc.
