I did when I was about 7 to imitate steptoe on TV... apparently I did a mean impression of him when I had a tantrum??!! Needless to say, I never got on the show, but they sent free tickets to see the Rescuers at the flicks!

What did you's write in to do & more importantly did you get on the show?

I dont recall ever writing in but do remember being extremely jealous when some youngster got to play drums with the drummer from 'Adam and the Ants'

Never got on the show but my mate and I wrote in asking weather we could reenact the bun fight at the OK tea rooms as seen in one of the Goodies episodes.
i did i wanted to play with lions, never got a reply :-)
My friend wrote in to see if she could have tea with the chimps at the zoo but never got a reply! I do not think you could tell the difference between her and the chimps, personally.
I asked to find out how a Rubics Cube was made... Didn't get a reply either...
I didn't even write to my pen friends :-)
I wrote in and asked if I could switch on the street lights.

Why didn't my parents stop me....?
I wanted to spend a night in a haunted house...

The ubiquitous 'friend of a friend' apparently, though I don't recall seeing it (possibly to preserve my own sanity) appeared on the programme singing with Max Bygraves.

Her parents thought she was a star in the making a were searching for a suitable showcase for her talents. Whereas her schoolfriends were applying to sing with the famous pop-acts of the day, her parents thought that she stood a better chance of appearing with a slightly less obvious choice.

She was force-fed a diet of 'Sing-along-a-Max' in the weeks leading up to the show.......

I have no idea whether she ever gained national or international recognition. :o)

I also remember Ant & Dec on one of their Sat night shows doing a spin off of JFI; friends/family put forward names of people who had wrote in but didnt get on the show, and then A&D surprised them and they had to act out their 'wish' on live TV like 30 yrs older, they were mortified! My friend always threatened me with it - can you imagine, 30odd yrs old trying to imitate STeptoe on live telly! I would have died!
Spooky D97x7 (strange username - what is its origin).
Lil and I wrote in, probably when we were about 10, asking for either a custard pie fight or a tandem race with the Goodies.

Jim did not fix it for us. He didn't even reply. We switched allegience to Tony Blackburn.
Hi Salla, the D is the first initial of my surname, the 97 is my favourite prime number under 100 (weird I know) and the x7 I just stuck on the end for no real reason.
You have a favourite prime number??!!!
Weird.
Although I have to say, 7 is a favourite number of mine. But I don't think it is a prime one (was never very good at maths).
And I thought it was your prison number, how wrong can one be.....
7 is a prime. I suppose 97 is just my favourite number really, don't know why.
It does sound like that doesn't it, but I can assure you it isn't.
