I feel really shocked and upset tonight. I've just found out that a cat belonging to an elderly lady on her own who lives in the flats at the bottom of my crescent has been shot three times with air gun pellets and had to be put down as it was paralysed. I used to 'talk' to it regularly and it was totally unconcerned about my dog and just used to sit and watch us pass by. It was found on our crescent trying to crawl home. I live in a very quiet residential area and cant believe some one would do this. The vet said it had been shot from above probably from a window. It never seemed to wander far and it must be some one local who shot it. How can people do things like this?

It is in todays local paper with a picture of the cat on the front page and numbers to ring for the police and Crimestoppers so who knows perhaps someone will give them some information. I hope so.
It might become the next big story, like the woman who put the cat in the wheelie bin.
Now there's another nutter for you, hope they catch this b45tard whoever it is.
Disgusting....
i had a cat ..years ago now..poisoned..was some one who kept pigeons but could not prove it....
That is so sad Linedancer. Some very disturbed people out there.
not surprised with some of the human crap walking the streets
FAO Nox, you will see that I specified thickies and the neglected, not all. Without proper guidance and with the computer as babysitter, isn't it even possible?
with people getting soft pathetic fines it will never stop, look at this person £400 fine , vets bills will be more than that

how many feral cats do you see with a collar on

I can't imagine the mentality of anyone who thinks that shooting an animal much smaller than them is 'fun'. It must be horrible for the lady and for other cat owners in the area.

It makes me feel (slightly) guilty for the death threats that I have been growling at my two moggies this morning. ;-)

Thanks everyone. Good to know other people feel the same as I do!
what is the world coming to,such pointlessness!
dreadful - makes you wonder what's going on in the idiot's head - not a lot judging by his/her actions. Feel so sorry for the lady too - terrible state of affairs.
I could cry for this poor little cat, just living its life, sitting there watching people go by, totally unaware of the vile monsters in this world who would hurt it, and then it's hurt and trying to crawl home. God, it makes me so mad!!! I'd like to shoot the piece of filth who did this to an innocent little creature. Poor elderly lady, she'll probably be scared to get another one in case it happens again.

Its probably put her off getting another cat for ever- its such a terrible thing to happen-unless they find out who did it and she knows it wont happen again. I've missed seeing it today, poor cat!
We had an old cat missing searched everywhere we could, 3 days later he arrived home trailing his back leg poor we soul. Took him to vet an he had been shot with pellet gun his back leg was shattered. He lived for some years later but leg always dragged behind him. Culprit never found. How can anybody be so cruel.
Now that has upset me LD16, I'm just thinking of going to bed too, I know I won't sleep well now. The old lady must be very distressed.
I'd like to get my hands on the B@STARD that did it.

jem.
