Unreadable sectors :(
5 Answers
I was using Firefox yesterday when all of a sudden it crashed, I tried restarting Firefox a few a times it just kept coming up with a box saying it couldnt start and will send a report to Firefox. I thought maybe I could just restart my PC and all would be ok. PC started ok and went through its normal routine and then started a disk scan and then started reeling off all these unreadable file sectors! I tried re-starting a few times but always went back to the scan disk,. I skipped the scan disk and the PC then starts normally but I still cant use Firefox.
I let it go through the full scanDisk overnight and this morning the PC is up and running fine and no longer wants to run scandisk, Firefox is still not working despite un-installing and re-installing.
Is this because it is re-installing it on the bad sectors?
Do I need to ditch this hard drive?
I tried to start the PC using one of my 2 other installed hard drives with XP but it appears to switch back to the HD with the bad sectors.
Any advice please. I have 3 hard drives installed all 3 running windows XP, I only normally use the C drive and use the other two drives as additional storage.
