The chez dave answer for white is usually Viognier these days - Chilean or (current favourite) Porcupine Ridge from South Africa.

It seems to have escaped (so far) the declining quality drift of PG, Ch and a lot of SB

Just got back after 6 weeks working in Lyon, got a dozen bottles of cheapy cheap wine from the Intermarché at Calais, it's ok, but it could also be used for cleaning the drains.

Chardonnay is eminently more enjoyable when blended with Viognier... Unless its a very fine Chablis or Mersault.

I am just sipping a glass of very chilled Freixenet Vintage Cava. X x
