I'm sick to death of cold callers today, I have had 7 phone calls all purporting to be from debt solution companies. They were all from Indian sounding people with unlikely names (Sarah, Paul, Rachael are the 3 I remember).
How do I stop these people calling (already registered with tps)?
I had the same problem for a while,Up to 5 calls a day.I just started hanging up on them wthout speaking when I realised who they were.I now get none of these calls.I think they pass information amongst themselves as to who responds favourably and who doesn't
I had an American Lady shreiking down the phone at me..''Congratulations,!!! you won first prize !!!! Please dial this number to claim your 'Carrib Ian' cruise...went on for weeks..Eircom said they could not stop it as it was from a 'foreign' country!!!
No point in giving her the soldiers farewell..as it was a machine recording. Aaaaah!!
Zeuhl, I would have no qualms in doing it again. What gives them the right to ring our number when we are ex directory, we are entitled to our privacy and if these sales people think it is their right to call whenever they like then they should expect a bit of it back in return.
apart from showing yourself up to be rather dishonest and embittered, i assume you have never been employed. Otherwise you would recognise and respect that all commercial and public bodies need to contact people in order to conduct their business and keep our economy going. Something we all rely upon, unless you really are a hermit living in a cave in the middle of the moors.
You ask 'What gives them the right to ring our number when we are ex directory, we are entitled to our privacy'
How is someone calling you and being told politely you are not interested affecting your privacy? Laziness and belligerence seem a more likely explanation.
THey have the same right to call you as you have to call them.
If what you actually mean is that you are claiming the right to not have to behave in a reasonable manner when someone calls on you without a prior appointment or special permission - i suggest you have your cave phone disabled for incoming calls. Of course, you will then miss the 'privacy invading' calls that might actually be of interest to you.
Perhaps the next time you ask someone to call that you want to call - a repair man for example - when you've waited in for them and they finally turn up only to inform you that it was just a wind-up and they have no intention of fixing your washing machine or whatever, I trust you will be equally good humoured about it.
.
1. I have been employed all of my life. 2. Fact of life, we have a right to our privacy, what gives them the right to call a number that has been passed on by other sales companies. 3. What makes me dishonest? I just told him a few home truths. 4.You wouldn't happen to be a sales rep would you because they talk out of their ar5e as well. So when you pay my phone bill you can have an opinion on what I do with it. And just so you know whenever I get junk mail through my door with a prepaid envelope in it I send it back with the rubbish inside it thus helping to keep our posties in work. I suppose that makes me "dishonest" as well.
I have a notice that I bought in Wales in a shop at the bottom of the Snowdonian railway it states "no double glazing, no new windows, religous persons etc etc dont knock, dont ring, dont call " and still they knock on the door, I open the door , wait for the dogs to stop barking and point to the notice and say "cant you read? you poor thing" and close the door and leave them to read the notice. The most persistant are the ones trying to flog you a Sky package.
Sorry daffy654- nothing to do with your question but I just saw this page on Amazon and thought it looked just like you (well, your avatar).
