If you do not travel outside the EEC and the US, or live in weird whacky areas, 3G is not necessary - and are just using it for reading......

I have the wifi one £111 and this one holds far more books and mags than the new £89 and there is more functionality.

They are really good for readers, even in bright sunlight. The wallet with the wee lamp attached is very useful - get it with that.

Personally, no I don't think prices will budge.
The kindle doesn't come preloaded with books but ts easy to download what you want. I buy mine through Amazon and once you have an account you just have to select the book you want, buy with one click nd, provided your kindle is switched on, the book is downloaded immediately and only takes a few seconds. I don't have the 3G connection as I am quite happy to download what I need through a normal wifi connection, usually at home. The books vary in price but there are some available for free download as well. Once books are downloaded, you do not need to be connected to the internet to read them.
If you have a computer you don't need 3G. Books can be downloaded directly via wifi or through the pc.

Books cost anything from free to £50+. Have a look at the site to see what is on offer and the prices.

You can read the kindle without it being connected to the internet.

Any free books are usually old classics that are out of copyright - Charles Dickens, the Sherlock Holmes novels etc.

I much prefer the Sony eReader to the kindle.
I agree the wallet with the little reading light is a very useful accessory but the official kindle ones are quite pricey - I did a Google search and came up with a version at a fraction of the price and it fits perfectly.

No, I do not think the price will come down near Christmas; I think that it will go up instead. There is also a reader called Kobo.

I bought myself a kindle and am not impressed with it. I have gone back to reading paper books.

Nothing wrong with it, it just doesn't feel right IMO.

True its dead easy to download thousands of books and useful to people traveling who might want to read a lot. No weight to carry round etc.
